Springs of Living Water Fellowship Articles
of Faith The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and
authoritative Word of God, the product of Holy men of old who spoke and wrote as
they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The
New Covenant as recorded in the New Testament, we accept as our infallible guide
in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. 2
Timothy 3: 16, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for
doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness;” 1
Thessalonians 2:13, “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye
received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of
men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in
you that believe.” 2
Peter 1:21, “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy
men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.” That
there is only one
God, He has existed forever, and shows Himself to us as three distinct persons:
God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Philippians
2:6,
“Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with
God.” Matthew
3:16-17,
“And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and,
lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending
like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is
my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew
13:14, “The
grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the
Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.” Matthew
28:19, “ Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” That God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth
and all that is therein; the source of the Word [Logos] and Begetter. Genesis
1:1,
“ In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” John
14:28, “Ye
have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved
me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is
greater than I.” John
1:14, “And
the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory
as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, that he has existed
with the Father from the beginning, in His virgin Birth, in His sinless life, in
His miracles. Matthew
1:23,
“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they
shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” Matthew
3:16-17, “
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo,
the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a
dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my
beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Luke
1:35, “And
the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and
the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing
which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.” John
1:1, “In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John
1:14, “And
the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, [and we beheld His glory, the glory
as of the begotten of the Father,] full of grace and truth.” John 1:18, “No man
hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the
Father, he hath declared him.” John
3:16, “For
God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” Acts
2:22, “Ye
men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among
you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you,
as ye yourselves also know:” Acts
10:38, “How
God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went
about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was
with him.” Hebrews
7:26, “For
such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from
sinners, and made higher than the heavens;” In the substitutionary and atoning death of the Lord Jesus
Christ, in His bodily resurrection on the third day, in His ascension to the
right hand of the Father, that He is the only mediator between God and man, and
that He is interceding for the saints today.
Isaiah
53, “1 Who
hath believed our report and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For
he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry
ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no
beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a
man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from
him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we
did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for
our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our
peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep
have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath
laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was
afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the
slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his
mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare
his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the
transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with
the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence,
neither was any deceit in his mouth. 10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise
him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for
sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the
LORD shall prosper in his hand. 11 He shall see of the travail of his soul,
and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify
many; for he shall bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore will I divide him a
portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because
he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the
transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the
transgressors.” Matthew
12:40, “For
as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son
of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Matthew
28:6, “He
is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord
lay.” Luke
9:22, “And
being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto
death, even the death of the cross.” Luke
24:39,
“Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a
spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.” John
14:2-3, “In
my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I
go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will
come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be
also.” John
16:28, “I
came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the
world, and go to the Father.” Acts
1:9, “And
when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud
received him out of their sight.“ Acts
2:33, “Therefore
being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the
promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and
hear.” Hebrews
1:3, “Who
being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and
upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our
sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;” Hebrews
7:25,
“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by
him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews
12:2,
“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that
was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at
the right hand of the throne of God.” 1
Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man
Christ Jesus;” Philippians
2:8, “And
being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto
death, even the death of the cross.” The Holy Ghost is a distinct and
Divine Person who proceeds from both the Father and the Son, and is eternal.
We recognize His work as Convictor, Teacher, Leader, Comforter and
Enabler. John
15:26, “But
when the comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the
Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.” John
16:7-15,
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I
will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin,
and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment,
because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto
you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come,
he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but
whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to
come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto
you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall
take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.” Acts
13:2, “As
they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me
Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.” Romans
8:11, “But
if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that
raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his
Spirit that dwelleth in you.” Ephesians
2:1,“And
you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins. Ephesians
4:30 , “And
grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of
redemption.” Titus
3:5, “Not
by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he
saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; “ That man is a created being, made in the likeness and image
of God, but through Adam’s transgression and fall, sin came into the world.
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the
devil and gave His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to
God. Psalm
51:5,
“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” Romans
3:9-10,
“What then? Are we better than
they? No, in no wise: for we have
before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; As it is
written: There is none righteous,
no, not one.” Romans
3:23, “For
all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans
5:12,
“Wherefore, as by one man’s sin entered into the world, and death by sin;
and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” Ephesians
2:13, “But
now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of
Christ.” 1
John 3:8, “He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from
the beginning. For this purpose the
Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.” Galatians
3:13-14,
“Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us:
for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree; That the blessing
of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might
receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.” That man’s only hope of
redemption is through repentance and faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ,
that salvation is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, that salvation is a
gift of God to man that is separate from works and the law.
We believe that the Holy Ghost is
active in the miracle of the new birth, which produces eternal life John 3:3-8, “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I
say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus
saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second
time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say
unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into
the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is
born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born
again.” John
10:9, “I am
the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out,
and find pasture. “ Acts
4:12.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under
heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Ephesians
2:8, “For
by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God.” 2
Corinthians 7:10,
“For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but
the sorrow of the world worketh death.” 1
John 1:7-9,
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one
with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Titus
3:4-7, “But
after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by
works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved
us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which
he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being
justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal
life. In water baptism by immersion; That it is am act of obedience
in following Jesus’ example and identification with Christ in His death,
burial, and resurrection, and is a command for all believers. Mark
16:16,
“He
that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall
be damned.” Acts
2:38, “Then
Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of
Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the
Holy Ghost.” Acts
8:36-39, “And as they
went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See,
here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.
And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into
the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of
the Lord caught away Philip, and the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his
way rejoicing.”
Acts
10:47-48,“Can
any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the
Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of
the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.” Matthew
28:19, “Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Romans
6:4,
“Therefore we are buried with him by baptism, unto death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should
walk in newness of life.” Colossians
2:12,
“Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the
faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.” In Holy Communion, the partaking of the Lord’s Supper, is
enjoined on all believers “till he comes”.
The bread symbolizes the broken body of Jesus Christ.
The fruit of the vine and the cup represents the new covenant in His
blood which provides us forgiveness and relationship with God.
We judge ourselves and realize that this is our salvation and receive it
for if we receive it unworthily, without giving it honor as our salvation, we
are guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 1
Corinthians 11:23-31, “For
I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord
Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he
had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is
broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also
he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my
blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as
often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till
he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of
the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But
let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that
cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh
damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause
many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would
judge ourselves, we should not be judged.” That Christ’s atoning sacrifice and redemptive work on the
cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer, in the
laying on of hands of the believers, and for the elders of the church to anoint
with oil in the name of the Lord, praying the prayer of faith. Isaiah
53:4-5, “Surely
he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him
stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our
transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace
was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Matthew
8:16-17, “When
the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils:
and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: That
it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself
took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.” Mark
5:28, “For
she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the
fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed
of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone
out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And
his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest
thou, Who touched me?” Mark
5:41, “And
he took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being
interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise.” Mark
10:13-16,
“And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his
disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much
displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and
forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you,
Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not
enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and
blessed them. “ Mark
16:18,
“They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not
hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” Acts
6:2-6, “Then
the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not
reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables. Wherefore,
brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy
Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give
ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. And the saying
pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of
the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas,
and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch: Whom they set before the apostles: and when
they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.” Acts
19:11-12, “And
God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were
brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from
them, and the evil spirits went out of them.” Acts
28:8, “And
it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody
flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed
him.” 1
Timothy 4:14, “Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by
prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.” James 5:13-16,
“Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them
pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And
the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if
he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to
another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent
prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
1
Peter 2:24, “Who
his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to
sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.” That
baptism in the Holy Ghost is a gift and promise of the Father to each and every
believer; that according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ, all believers
should fervently expect and earnestly seek the baptism in the Holy Ghost and
fire; that this was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church;
This experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new
birth. With the baptism in the Holy
Ghost come such experiences as an overflowing fullness of the Spirit of God, a
deepened reverence for God, and intensified consecration to God and dedication
to His work, and a more active love for Christ, for His word and for the lost. Mark
16:20, “And
they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and
confirming the word with signs following. Amen.” Luke
24:49,
“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the
city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” John
7:37-39, “In
the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any
man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the
scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (But
this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for
the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)” Acts
1:4-8, “And,
being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart
from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have
heard of me. For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with
the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they
asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to
Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the
seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power,
,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me
both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part
of the earth.” Acts
2:42, “And
they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in
breaking of bread, and in prayers” Acts
8:12-17, “But
when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God,
and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. Then Simon
himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and
wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done. Now when the
apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of
God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they were come down, prayed
for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were
baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and
they received the Holy Ghost.” Acts
10:44-46, “While
Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the
word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as
came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of
the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.” Acts
11:15-16,
“Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. And
as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized
with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.” Acts
15:7-9,
“And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them,
Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us,
that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy
Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them,
purifying their hearts by faith.” That the baptism of believers in the Holy Ghost is witnessed
by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit of God
gives the utterance. The speaking
in tongues in this instance is the same in essence as the gift of tongues, but
different in purpose and use. Acts
2:4, “And
they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues,
as the Spirit gave them utterance.” 1Corinthians
12:4-10, 28, “Now
there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. And
there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are
diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But
the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to
one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge
by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of
healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another
prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues;
to another the interpretation of tongues: (28) And God hath set some in the
church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that
miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.” In the eternal nature of the spirit of man, and the
resurrection of both the saved and the lost.
They that are saved unto the resurrection of eternal life, and they that
are lost unto the resurrection of everlasting punishment and damned to the lake
of fire. Psalm
9:17, “The
wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God.” Daniel
12:1-2,
“And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for
the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never
was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people
shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many
of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting
life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” Matthew
25:46, “And
these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life
eternal.” Mark
9:43-48,
“And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into
life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never
shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And
if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into
life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall
be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if
thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the
kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.” 1
Corinthians 15:35-43, “But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what
body do they come? Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it
die: And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but
bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: But God giveth it a
body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. All flesh is not
the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts,
another of fishes, and another of birds. There are also celestial bodies, and
bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the
terrestrial is another. There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the
moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star
in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it
is raised in incorruption: It is
sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised
in power.” 1
Thessalonians 4:16-17, “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with
the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be
with the Lord.” 1
John 5:12,
“He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not
life.” Jude
1:13,“Raging
waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is
reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.” Revelation
14:10, “The
same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without
mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and
brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the
Lamb.” In a literal and eternal hell being the lake of fire; that
those who physically die in their sins without Christ is hopelessly and
eternally lost in the lake of fire and therefore have no further opportunity of
hearing the Gospel or for repentance. Hebrews
9:27, “And
the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before
him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and
them that worshipped his image. These
both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.” Hebrews
6:1-2,
“Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto
perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and
of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptism, and of laying on of hands, and
of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement.” Revelation
19:20, “And
the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before
him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and
them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire
burning with brimstone.” In the blessed hope -- the rapture of the Church at
Christ’s coming. Luke
21:36,
“Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to
escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of
man.” 1
Thessalonians 4:13-18,
“ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are
asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe
that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God
bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which
are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which
are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with
the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be
with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” 1
John 3:2, “Beloved,
now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we
know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as
he is.” Romans
8:23, “And
not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit,
even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the
redemption of our body. Titus
2:13,
“Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God
and our Saviour Jesus Christ;” 1
Corinthians 15:51-52,
“Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be
changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the
trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be
changed.” Luke
16:22-31,
“And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into
Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up
his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his
bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send
Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for
I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy
lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now
he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you
there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you
cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said,
I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:
For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come
into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the
prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went
unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear
not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from
the dead.” Revelation
20:6,
“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the
second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and
shall reign with him a thousand years.” In Christ’s personal future return to
this earth in power and glory to judge the nations and to reward those who
believe. Daniel
7:13-15, “I
saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the
clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near
before him. And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all
people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting
dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be
destroyed. I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the
visions of my head troubled me.” Zechariah
14:5, “And
ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains
shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the
earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come,
and all the saints with thee.” Luke
14:1-3,
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my
Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go
to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come
again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” 2
Timothy 4:1, “I
charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the
quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;” Revelation
20:1-3,
“And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless
pit and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old
serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years, And cast
him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he
should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled:
and after that he must be loosed a little season.” Revelation
20:6,
“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the
second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and
shall reign with him a thousand years.” In the bringing in of a new heaven and new earth as the final
state, and that all things then being new will be in the state of perfection. Isaiah
65:17,
“For,
behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be
remembered, nor come into mind.” Isaiah
66:22, “For
as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me,
saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.” 2 Peter 3:13, “Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” Revelation
21:1-22, “And I saw a new
heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed
away; and there was no more sea. And I John
saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared
as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven
saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them,
and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their
God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no
more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain:
for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said,
Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are
true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the
beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of
the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I
will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and
the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters,
and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and
brimstone: which is the second death. And there came unto me one of the seven
angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with
me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. And he
carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that
great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from
God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a
stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; And had a wall
great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names
written thereon, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of
Israel: On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three
gates; and on the west three gates. And the wall of the city had twelve
foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. And he
that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates
thereof, and the wall thereof. And
the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he
measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the
breadth and the height of it are equal. And he measured the wall thereof, an
hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is,
of the angel. And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was
pure gold, like unto clear glass. And the foundations of the wall of the city
were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was
jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth,
beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth;
the twelfth, an amethyst. And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; every several
gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were
transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and
the Lamb are the temple of it.” In
the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost by whose indwelling the Christian is
enabled to live and act as Jesus would; that the doctrine of sanctification is a
definite, yet progressive work of grace which commences at the time of
regeneration. Acts
2:42, “And
they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in
breaking of bread, and in prayers” Hebrews
12:14, “Follow
peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” Hebrews
12:28,
“Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace,
whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.” 1
Corinthians 1:30,
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and
righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” 2
Corinthians 3:18, “But
we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are
changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the
Lord.” Ephesians 4:11-12,
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and
some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of
the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

Thessalonians 5:23, “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your
whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our
Lord Jesus Christ.” 1
Peter 3:18,
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he
might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the
Spirit.” Philippians 3:12-14,
“Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I
follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of
Christ Jesus. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one
thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto
those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high
calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
In the Holy Ghost’s enduement of power for life and
service, in the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the
ministry, and that the gifts of the Spirit are available to believers today for
edification of the church. Luke
24:49,
“And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the
city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.” Acts
10:44-46, “While
Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the
word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as
came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of
the Holy Ghost. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.” 1
Corinthians 14:12, “Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek
that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.” 1
Corinthians 12:1-11
“1 Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you
ignorant. 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb
idols, even as ye were led. 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no
man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can
say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. 4 Now there are
diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. 5 And there are differences of
administrations, but the same Lord. 6 And there are diversities of
operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. 7 But the
manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. 8 For
to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of
knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To
another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of
spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of
tongues:” That the Church is the Body of Christ, the habitation of God
through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great
commission. Each believer, born of
the Spirit, is an integral part of the General Assembly and Church of the
Firstborn, which are written in heaven. Since
God’s purpose concerning man is to seek and to save that which is lost, to be
worshipped by man, and to build a body of believers in the image of His Son, the
primary reason for being a member of Springs of Living Water Fellowship as part
of the Church is: a.
To be an agency of God for evangelizing the world; b.
To be a corporate body in which man may worship God; c.
To be a channel of God’s purpose to build a body of
saints being perfected in the image of His Son. Matthew
28:19-20, “Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things
whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end
of the world. Amen.” Mark
16:15-16, “And
he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every
creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that
believeth not shall be damned.” Acts
1:8, “But
ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall
be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and
unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Hebrews
12:23, “To
the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven,
and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,” 1 Corinthians 12:11-31, “But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For the body is not one member, but many. 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling? 18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. 19 And if they were all one member, where were the body? 20 But now are they many members, yet but one body. 21 And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. 22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: 23 And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness. 24 For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked: 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another. 26 And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it. 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. 29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” Ephesians
1:21-22, “Far above all
principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named,
not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be
the head over all things to the church,” Ephesians
2:22, “In
whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the
Spirit.” Ephesians
4:11-16,
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and
some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of
the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the
unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That
we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with
every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby
they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into
him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body
fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth,
according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase
of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” |
